Fact-Checking Policy

Last Updated: 7 September 2026

MySETA Careers is committed to providing reliable information about jobs, learnerships, internships, bursaries, apprenticeships, training programmes and other career opportunities in South Africa.

Our fact-checking process is designed to reduce factual errors and help readers identify the original source of an opportunity.

What We Check

Where information is available, our editorial team attempts to verify key details including:

  • Organisation or employer
  • Programme or job title
  • Opportunity type
  • Minimum requirements
  • Qualifications
  • Age requirements
  • Location
  • Duration
  • Stipend or salary
  • Closing date
  • Application method
  • Application website or source
  • Contact information
  • Important applicant instructions

Not every opportunity will contain all of these details. When information is not provided by the original source, we avoid presenting assumptions as facts.

Preferred Sources

Our preferred sources include:

  1. Official SETA websites
  2. Official government websites
  3. Official company websites
  4. Official university and TVET college websites
  5. Official recruitment portals operated by relevant organisations
  6. Official programme announcements
  7. Other credible sources that can be independently checked

We give greater weight to primary sources because they are closest to the organisation responsible for the opportunity.

Checking Application Details

Where possible, we compare the information in our article with the original application or announcement.

We pay particular attention to:

  • Closing dates
  • Application links
  • Minimum qualifications
  • Required documents
  • Locations
  • Stipends and salaries
  • Eligibility requirements

Readers are encouraged to confirm these details on the original source before applying.

Handling Unconfirmed Information

If a detail cannot be confirmed, we do not intentionally present it as confirmed information.

For example, if an article does not provide an official stipend amount, we will not invent an amount based on what similar programmes normally pay.

Likewise, we do not assume that an opportunity is available nationally when the official announcement only identifies specific locations.

Dates and Expired Opportunities

Closing dates can change, and organisations may close applications early.

For this reason, an article may remain online after an opportunity closes for informational or archival purposes.

Where appropriate, we update articles to indicate that an opportunity has closed or that readers should check the official source for the latest status.

Images and Visual Material

We aim to use images responsibly and avoid presenting generic or illustrative images as photographs of a specific employer, workplace or event when they are not.

Where an image is illustrative, the surrounding article should not imply that the image represents the actual organisation or programme unless that is known to be true.

Corrections

If a factual error is identified after publication, we review the information and make a correction where appropriate.

Significant corrections may result in the article being updated with the corrected information.

Reader Fact-Checking

Readers are encouraged to help us maintain accuracy.

If you identify an incorrect:

  • Closing date
  • Application link
  • Requirement
  • Stipend
  • Location
  • Programme detail
  • Employer detail

please contact us and provide the relevant evidence or official source where possible.

Important Disclaimer

Fact-checking reduces the likelihood of errors but cannot guarantee that every detail will remain accurate after publication.

Recruitment, education and training information can change without notice.

Applicants should always verify the latest information directly with the organisation responsible for the opportunity before applying.
